Help, It's been a while

I did my Dtivo unit over a year ago and now am doing a Stand alone unit,
I installed 25 Extreme and rebooted, Have a serial cable hooked to my laptop with Hyperterminal connected, the bash looks like this, bash-2.02# I dont remember it looking like that, when I type "touch_/ect/*******" I get, No such file or directory ?
If I do CD/ I get, No such file or directory ?
I am so close, What am I doing wrong ?????

You can't Xtreme an SA Tivo, so I don't know how you'd see a bash prompt.

I put xtreme on a stand alone Phillips and have a bash, when I do a touch it says file not found, what should I put on a stand alone ?

Well an SA box gets its guide data via the phone call. So if you don't have a Tivo sub for it, you can only turn it into a manual recorder. Look in the Tivo Hacks section on this board, or over in the Underground on AVS Forum.
