I am just wondering if I can just put the network card in my dtivo sony t60 without anything else? What I wanted to do with this unit is just to extract video from this box so that I can make a dvd or vcd. I have been reading a lot but so far I am so confused... I am pretty good with electronics components soldering etc. but come to this tivo upgrade is just over my head. Also I can work with dos or windows no problem. So far I have been read this forum and I don't know that the extreme25 can do for me? I feel that I am dumb, but I would thanks to anyone here to light me up a little.... thanks

just go to 9th tee (http://www.9thtee,com) and buy a turbonet board kit.. all the info is ther as well.

however, exreme'n your SAT-60 is also a good solution, you may want to increase the size of your HD at the same time, or put a second drive in. The biggest advantage is while your TiVo HD is in a PC for the installs, you can do a backup of your drive. Which will give you that "warm-fuzzy" all over.

At the very least you will have to:

kill initrd (Turbonet installer does that).

load noscramble.o or perform the kernel hack so your recordings are saved unscrambled.

load tystream to export the files.

Just like BL said:

1) buy and install the turbonet card (check out 9th tee as suggested)
2) load the noscramble.o module (search and read up on this, it is really easy)
3) Then head over to the Extraction forum and familiarize yourself with tytool (also really easy once you get it doing.)
4) Then check out the subject of Authoring your DVD's (or (s)vcd's) also over in the Extraction forum.

There's not much to it once you get in and get going. I'm stuck at the Authoring step myself (combinatin of: no media to burn on [just ordered up my first stack of dvd-rw's,] and sore eyes from all the reading) :)

Thanks all of you have replied to my thread, I think I will have to tear my sony T60 apart as soon as I have time. First I did not know what to do with it, because I don't know what is the extreme ver. 2.5 or 3.0 can do for me. Now I started to understand a little. I have have been reading so much and I still got so confused over this tivo hack.... Because what I wanted to do with this unit is to extract the video from this sony T60 via the ethernet card and burn it into dvd or vcd. Right now I am able to record the whole movies but unable to view them due to subscription issue.

One more question: If I load the extreme into my dtivo, do I still need to my original dtivo hard drive? .... I want I mean is that if I can just buy a bigger hard drive and load the extreme into it without bothering do anything with my original dtivo....Any help is appreciated......

thanks....

yes, many people keep a backup this way. Setting the original hard drive(s) aside while you get 25Xreme setup on another larger disk is quite common (then one day once you are comfortable with 25xtreme you will canabalize your backup for something else. :) )
