I had posted this on the end of another thread, but that one fell like a stone, sorry for the repetion.
First, thanks for all of the info so far. I'm still having a couple of problems though. I run 25xtreme with the DTivo drive set as secondary master, and the CD drive set as secondary slave. No problem that I could see. I replace the (single) drive in my DTivo with the 80gig xtremed drive and attach the cable I made to the serial port and my PC. I bring up TeraTerm and then power up the DTivo. Got the bash prompt. Entered "touch /ect/SubTest" and it told me the file or directory didn't exist. Tried several variations on case, same results. I figured that maybe that was just a normal response, so I tried to force a test call on the DTivo (no phone line of course) but status remains at "2". Disconnected from the PC, and did some more reading. Went to go back into the DTivo a little later, couldn't get a bash prompt, even rebooted the reciever. Im assuming I need to pull the drive and RE-xtreme, reinstall. Can anyone give me an idea of what error I'm making so I can avoid it on my next try? Thanks in advance.
BTW, I pay for a sub (w/ HBO & Showtime) on three DTivos, and pay for Tivo service. I just want the recording functions without a call in, currently its been more than 30 days since a call so service is interrupted, even though I pay for it.
