I got the thermal shutdown message. SO I unplugged it. Now I can't get it to power back up. When I plug the power back in, the green light in the front comes on, but nothing shows on screen. What do I do?

Take Off the top cover on the T-60. (DO NOT BREAK/TEAR THE WARRIENTY STICKER) make sure the fan is connected. This is what causes the heat overload. Also if the receiver is in a closed area (NO GOOD AIR CIRULATION) the receiver can reach maxim thermal temperature.

The fan was not connected. I just noticed that. But the receiver was never in warranty to begin with (I bought it used). It was working fine until I had it upgraded. What can I do now? Is there someplace I can send it to get it fixed? It probably needs a new main board or a new power supply. I'd rather fix it than get rid of it. Thx

I had the same situation before. Here is what I did and now I am working fine. I took out the original hard drive and copped to a new upgraded hard drive. (120G) Installed another (120G) ran Dylins Boot Disk. Then let the receiver make a phone call.
Now you did mention you might need a new power adapter? Here is the bad news on that. You have to orrder that from Sony and if you look at the power adapter is on a circut board. (NOT VERY CHEAP) I recomend trying to reconnect and boot the receiver. If you keep getting the POWERING UP msgs the hard drive is stuck and you will need to replace it. There is a tool you can use to get it unstuck and copy the files but off the top of my head I can remember the name of it.
Hope this helps if not let me know.

Thanks for the info. But my problem is that it won't even get to the powering up screen. I plug the Tivo in, the fan starts turning and the hard drive starts spinning, but nothing shows on screen. Not even the 'powering up' msg.
