I decided to start with a fresh install of 25xtreme then upgraded to 3.1 and everything was working well. I got my wireless card back, and I decided to install it back into my dtivo. I just ran the installation CD that is on 9thtee. Now XPlusz is not working. I did make a backup of my disk before I installed the wireless card.
Currently I don't have bash access. So I'm going to have to restore from the backup.
How do I go about installing the wireless card

well here is were I'm at now. I have bash access. I can run xp commands from bash, but they don't seem to work. I cannot run xplusz commands from the call waiting options. I get no response.
I really don't know what to do from here. I'm not sure what could have been over written or removed from the startup scripts

I had the same problem with my upgrade to 3.1. It seems that the airnet install messes up the commands at the end of the rc.sysinit file and kills xPlusz.
How I fixed it:
reinstall xPlusz
edit rc.sysinit so that it only has >>>ONE<<< bash statement at the end of the rc.sysinit file
reboot

Thank you for the reply. I thought I posted that I fixed the problem.. I guess I didn't.
That is what I did to fix it. Reinstalled xPlusz and removed the entries in the rc.sysinit

Is this the order of things?...
Install 25xtreme
Install xplusz
Install airnet drivers
Fix rc.sysinit and remove a bash statement at the end?
Thanks for the help

What I did was:
Installed a fresh copy of extreme 2.5
Then I upgraded to extreme 3.1 through the xupgrade.zip from tivostuff.com.
I then installed the airnet card from the cd from 9thtee.
After that xPlusz was not working. I used the serial cable with a null modem adapter that came with the tivo, and edited the rc.sysint and removed the last bash statement. I then reinstalled xPlusz and everything was cool..
well until my HD died

Are you installing the v310.tar and upgrd310.tcl over the bash or is there a way to install only xPlusz?
Thanks

ok I installed airnet drivers, re-installed xplus but now xplus will not execute...WTF. I have done this 3 time already (xplus) and still no go. What line exactly do I need to delete in the rc.sysinit?

I read something about making rc.sysinit executable after you edit it. Not sure if that is what's affecting you, though.
Good luck.

I did not save the rc.sysinit. so I don't have the exact lines. But at the end of the file you will see two statements dealing with bash. Remove the second statement and everything after. The other two lines after the bash statement deal with ftp and telnet. you can just enable them trhough xplusz

I finally got my wireless nic, xupgrade, xplusz working at the same time!
My method was this:
1- 25extreme
2- xupgrade to 2.5.2
3- nic_install from 9thTee
At this stage xplusz stops working. I could ping my wireless but telnet and ftp would refuse connections
4- edit rc.sysint and take all the lines after "bash --login" out. There were a few blank lines before a 3 line set of commands.
5- reinstall the full version of xplusz. Not the xupgrade, just the 430K file. Durring the upgrade I was prompted to choose which services to turn on. I did NoPhone, No SDD, telnet and ftp. I left tivoweb til later.
Smooth sailing and tivoweb works (which is my reason for doing all of this). Now I just have to figure out how to access it from the work and it will make sense to my girlfriend why I've spent 16 hours on this.
