View Full Version : Error #51; T-60 Can't record or view recorded shows

I went through and rebuilt my T-60 with a maxtor 160 GB hard drive, I loaded 2.0, then 3.1, then all the hacks, everything seemed good before I loaded the hacks, but I know I didn't try to record anything, so I'm not 100%, but if I try to view now showing, or record a show, it tells me that there is an error in my Tivo and that I should call Sony and reference error number 51.

I don't know what it's doing, last time I upgraded to 3.1 by the same means on my stock 40G Maxtor drive, and I had problems getting my locals to work. I only wanted the real locals that I subscribe to to work, but they continually showed TBA, even after a week.

This time the upgrade looked good, as I have my locals working, but I get this error message. Does anybody know anything about this? Am I plauged to not have a fully functioning tivo?

It's kinda useless not being able to record... I can pause, rewind, switch tuners, but no record, or viewing recorded shows.

This second time around, I did all my setup in an extra T-60 that I've been able to borrow, and then I moved the hard drive over to my own T-60. Could that have anything to do with it? if so, what do I do to fix it? I also ran fixsub without making any calls, or even setting up the phone settings. Do I need to do that at all?

thanks for any help,

Pretty sure that is the cause of your problem. Any reason you can't do the initial setup on the T-60 you plan to use the drive in?

Can I do a backup of the image, then restore the image, and then have it work? is that possible? If I plan on using the 160 again, I suppose I could backup the drive and restore right to itself, but I don't know what difference it would make, but when I think about it, it seems like it would work, because it works when I restore an image from the internet.

Could this be solved by doing a "clear and delete everything" from the system menus? I think I read a post that indicated restoring a backup from an image with 2.5 or greater requires this, and since I had originally used 2.0 and upgraded, I may not have needed this before.

Any advice? anyone run into this issue?

thanks,

I read the same posts. I would try a "clear and delete" (which would obviously wipeout any season passes and recorded show) before I started from scratch.

I'm doing that now... does that wipe out hacks as well?

No, it will simply reset your unit. Not back to a virgin state, but back to what it was before all the season passes and recordings were made.
