Well, to start off with as most everyone who posts files here, this comes with no guarantee, no help, no anything.

To be honest, I got tired of using the remote through a browser, and wanted something better.

This might be similiar to the MAC version, but I have no idea, and don't care.

This version is just a remote, that has a favorites menu ( actually these are my favorites ) and a send text option, if you have that installed to the default path on your TIVO.

Yesterday was the first day I had ever used Visual Basic to build this so I'm sure it will probably exploded when you first open it up. Works well for me, especially when you assign a macro to pull up the remote with a few keystrokes.

I doubt I will go any further with this, because I know there are alot more accomplished programmers out there --- but hopefully this will cause someone to build a better mouse trap.

Perhaps if it gets any fanfare, I might just learn howto use VB a little better.

Enjoy.

Note: Be SURE you put the tivo.ini file in the SAME directory, or you might not be very happy.

For those curious of a screenshot, here is a pictures i took, and scaled it down a touch, so that I wouldn't get hit too badly.

For those that don't have vb runtime files installed on their computer, I have this version which wraps everything you need up into a handy .exe

This file is quite a bit larger, but you will only need it once.

Unzip the contents to a temp directory, and run Setup.exe

Seems that the board wont allow a file of that size, so I will host it for a very short time off one of my servers.

DON'T FORGET TO EDIT THE .INI FILE AND PUT THE IPADDRESS TO YOUR TIVO IN!!!!

I especially like how the keyboard is mapped to the remote- arrowkeys, page up/down, HOME button for DTiVo Central, etc.

What does the 'Send Text' function do? I thought maybe it was going to display text on the screen- is it for searching text strings?

Also, is it possible to configure my own Favorite Channels list?

great-looking app, keep it up!

Send text will display text on your screen if you have the message text module installed to the default path.

I think I will add soon where you can set your own favorites, seems a few people have already asked for it.

Nice work.

For those of you who don't have any ethernet/IP capabilities, and don't intend on geting any, here is a similar program that PaulAS and I did about a year ago.

It's the same concept, but works over the serial port instead of ethernet, and only requires bash access

Hope you find it usefull
