This is slightly OT, but may help some of you who often misplace your Tivo remotesL

My parents got me one of these for Christmas:

Anyway, I used the green one for my Tivo remote, the Blue one for my HDTV remote. I velcro'd the transeivers to the remotes and added good ol' duct tape just for good measure.

I cannot tell you how much this has improved our lives. No more searching for the Tivo remote!

I think there may be 10% off web order coupons floating around, too

EDIT: try this one : http://www.sharperimagesavings.com/hampton/

For the record, **I** don't misplace **MY** remotes. :D
It's my youngest child hauling off with them and stashing them.

A neat idea indeed, especially for my keys. Of course **I** am not the one who misplaces those either. :)

The one thing I don't like is this:
Press a button on the **portable** base and the corresponding disc beeps loudly.
That sucker should be bolted to a wall and/or major support beam of one's house (above the reach of children.) Cuz if you can loose a Sat T-60 remote you can easily loose that base.

I use a Marantz RC2000 Mk II remote for all of my components. I just program it with all of the codes and store the originals in a safe place. The RC2000 is too big and heavy to misplace and it always sits on the arm of my sofa or on the coffee table for easy access.

What I need is a security chain, like banks have on their pens. :)

Actually, they thought of that too.

When you are searching for your keys, or remote control, or whatever, you take the finder off of the bottom part. (This bottom part is a big magnet so I have mine attached to the refirgerator) You then walk round with the finder unit like Mr. Spock, trying to get your keys or whatever to beep back at you. Once you find the keys or whatever, if you do not return the portable "finder" part to the base within 5 minutes, the finder unit itself starts making VERY loud beeps until it is returned back to its base.

I need one of those things so my girlfriend doesn't find the panties from the other chicks I bring home. Do they come in velcro by chance...?
