This is the message I get when I try to 25Xtreme a 40G Maxtor HD, the HD has 4 sets of jumper pin but, it only has instructions for the first 3 sets, they are; master, CS, and slave. I only get the message mount..... when I use master or slave settings, CS returns "insert a bootable floopy to proceed". So I decided to try the 4th unmarked set of jumpers, at least I got to type in "25xtreme" and it proceded to ask me was this "hdb, hdc, or hdd" so I tried them all, here's what I got for replies

hdc=restore failed: unable to open destination device for writing.

hdd= same as hdc above.

hdb=restore failed: backup target not large enough for entire backup itself.

So I'm stuck for now but, I was wondering a few things

1. Am I supposed to use the 40-pin cable and power supply from the HD in the PC to run the Tivo HD, or am I supposed to hook it up with the CDrom cable??

2. Is Maxtor the original HD for a Sony T-60 or is this a replacement??

Any and all suggestions will be appreciated!!

Also.... is the iso file from pitou's site (25Xtreme.iso) actually bigger than the standard 40GB HD found in most T-60?? That would explain the "backup target not large enough for entire backup itself." problem..

1) You can use either the primary or the secondary channel of your ide controller, just stay away from Primary Master (hda). Try using any of the other spaces.

2) Quantum is the original drive for stock tivos (I think) Though with that whole Maxtor buying quantum...I suppose you might get a maxtor in a stock tivo.

3) The image is for a 40 gig drive. I think your drive could locked. Be sure to check it in the bios and make sure your bios sees the full 40 gigs of space. If not, try looking for qunlock in the DirecTivo forum.

Thanks for the info!!! I was begining to think that my questions were way too stupid, I actually got the Maxtor to Xtreme, I had to use the 25Xtreme iso file from pitou,(strange that it worked when the zipped one wouldn't) now I still have a 40Gig Quantum that I want to do, (it's saying drive is too small) so i'll take a look at that qunlock, hopefully it helps

Last but not least, why is it that I haven't found a readme/tutorial with the fact that ALOT of HD's will error at 93% decompressed, and still be fine???

My signature says it all!
