Sony SVR-2000 standalone TiVo, running 3.0-01-1-010 software

the TiVo FTP daemon establishes a connection, but doesn't ever prompt for the username/password (yes, I know they're supposed to be blank entries :D) and eventually closes the connection. (doesn't matter whether the root partition is mounted read-only or read-write, either.)

anyone else seen this, or know what causes it ?

UPDATE:
It's not the TiVo or tivoftpd program, it works just fine from a DOS box on my WinXP Pro system. Go figure . . .

I had the same problem, still have it on my XPhome laptop, but the XP Pro desktop can get in just fine. Doesn't make sense! Let me know if you find out anything.. Thanks.

Try disabling passive mode (or enabling active only mode).

tivoftpd and mfs_ftp don't seem to like passive mode, and most recent ftp clients default to passive mode.
