ok i have read the following instructions on how to get the bash cable
-----------------------------
Go to Radio Shack and buy these items:

D-subminiature connector hood - Cat. No. 276-1539D
D-Subminiature connector 9 position Female - Cat. No. 276-1538C
6 Ft. 1/8" stereo extension audio cable - Cat. No. 42-2387A

Solder the following:

Tip Red Wire -> Pin2
Middle Black Wire -> Pin3
Outer Ring Silver Wire -> Pin5
--------------------------------

but i looked at the radioshak website and none of these items are to be found. Is there anywhere i may buy these items?? i am getting my Tivo shortly and i need this cable....i looked at www.9thtee.com but the shipping to canada is just way to expensive for a 15 dollar wire :) Any help would be appreciated!

Get a kit(or the connectors/pins/etc.) to make a db09 female/female cable from an electronics store(or computer store). Make a dbo9 female to db09 female cable. Wire it:

Pin 2 to 3
Pin 3 to 2
Pin 5 to 5

Plug it into the stock dbo9 seriel cable that came with your tivo.

Done!

Otherwise look at the How to section of the Dtv Tivo Forum, for other options. The one that you mentioned was only the first one mentioned. You can also use an RJ11(phone) to Dbo9 adapter and make a db09 to db09 cable that way with a phone cord.

Not sure why, but change the part #'s you are searching for to...
276-1539
276-1538
42-2387

These all showed up when I searched.

If you have an old pair of stereo headphones, you can just cut the cord off and use that.
