I bought a sony svr-2000 tivo from tweeter for 100.
It is a demo, when I turned it on I get a screen that asks if I want to run setup for in-store demo or setup for customer sale.
when I run setup for customer sale it wants to dial out to update the software(I'm assuming). I don't want to sign up and pay 12.95 month for the guide,(can't afford it) and I don't need the guide. I just want to use it as a digital vcr. Can I get around it trying to dial out and if not then if it dials out will I be able to use it as a digital vcr.
also, should I or do I need to backup the drive before I set it up. I'm trying to find everything I need to do before using it so I don't mess anything up. I guess everthing I have read at different sites and forums is starting to confuse me.
