View Full Version : Sony svr2000 - would like to hack it

I own an svr2000 and I have DSL. I would like to:

- Add a NIC to the Tivo if I can

- Add the Tivo to my network at home

- Find a way to upload programming so that I do not have to pay anymore

- Pull video to my Mac

- Possibly control programming/recording remotely through the internet

Are any of these things possible? If so, how do I do them? I am fully prepared to void my warranty. I also have no problems opening the case and messing around with the insides.

Thanks for the help - I appreciate it.

A good place to start is Tivo Community Forum (http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb/) Look in the TIVO Upgrade Centre.

Also look at the Tivo Web project (http://tivo.lightn.org/)

When you have all that up and running, come back here to find out about extraction.

I'm in the same boat. I'd like to be able to extract off of my Sony SVR-2000 SA Tivo. I've had a wireless network card, bash prompt, and tivoweb running for almost a year, so I'm not a total newbie...

However every few months I bang my head against it and try some of the various ways to extract programs to my Windows or Linux or Mac box without much luck.

Every once and awhile I'll find a reference to the Sony's using a slightly different format than other SA Tivo's.

So is any one extracting off a SVR-2000? How did you do it? I'd be glad to write up a how-to if someone could point me in the right direction.

my Sony SVR-2000 standalone doesn't present any particular problems with extraction, and i know that artships uses one as well. take a look at his page on Roger Merchberger's website over at:
