Can I apply any of the patches without a bash# prompt? Maybe having the drive hooked to a PC and booted into Linux?

Also, what's the purpose of a TurboNet card? Do I need one? Are they only for transfering files between PC and TiVo?

And do I need the serial cable to do anything? Once I Xtreme a drive, what else needs to be done to it to start watching TV?

Thanks for any help/info.

You can apply patches/changes under a linux environment. I would recommentd the 25Xtreme / Dylan's boot cd for this.

Turbonet is mainly used for extraction. If you are not planning on doing this, then you probably won't need one.

1 thing you should have is the serial cable. It will save you time in the long run. The time it takes you to pull the drives from your tivo, mount them in the pc, boot the cd, make changes, shutdown, mount the drives back in the tivo, you could make a simple serial cable. It is much easier to apply patches etc. on the fly with the serial cable.
