prolly dumb question. need card for sig strength test?

This probably is a stupid question, but do you need a card inserted to be able to test signal strength on all transponders?

I know you don't with regular receivers, but not sure of the DirecTiVos.

You don't need a card inserted until you actually try tuning into a channel after completing guided setup. It probably would have been easier to try it first instead of posting the question (unless, of course, you don't actually have a DTivo).

Well, I had to ask because I've never seen/used a DTiVo until now. And it just so happens that my first experience is with one which cannot tune in all the transponders. So I was just curious if you were supposed to be able to tune in all transponders without the card yet.
