UTV Hard Drive Upgrade

I have been scouring the net for weeks now, trying to find the answer to this question:

Is there ANY way to upgrade the default 40GB UTV hard drive to a larger one (WD 120GB, eg.) WITHOUT having the unit dial via the phone modem? I fear the answer may be "no", but I'm hoping that perhaps there is, either through a manual install of the software, or via the sat.

There seems to be minimal validation when downloading over the phone line. The card does not have to be in, and I do not think the unit needs to be activated.

is there a way to update the hard drive via computer. my modem is dead... the unit is a doorstop .. it work perfectly just can't update or get the required software...

what if you recorded the download on the phone line then hooked up the uvt to a telephone line simulator, after the utv dials out, hook it to the download recording,then when 3.7 hits just reset and download the old update again?
