basically all modchips today run the same code. the only difference at this point is what type of LPC connector is used, how/if the unit is to be flashed, and how much memory space is available on the chip.

the xecuter2, pcbioxx, and the new matrix that is coming out all have 1mb of space available, so you can boot debug or more advanced bioses when they become available

as far as feature go today they are all mostly the same.. I have a 256k matrix which I love because there was no solder points.. I am very capable of soldering, but at this point there is no need to have more than a 256k bios unless you want more than one image, at this point I think only useful if you want LIVE.. but realistically you can pick the best and it will do everything.. Looks like there's a new matrix coming out I'd prolly get that.. personally a no solder solution, which has worked flawlessly for me for 4 months.. is worth every cent times 100 the extra $25- or so it costs... assuming the new matrix is solderless as well...

I have matrix and love it..

If you only buy 1 thing make it a matrix.

if you are too scared to solder anything, then matrix is your only choice. however, i would shy away from that. the fancy pogo pins look neat but i wouldnt trust it long term.

just curious...quantify best if you could? With the PC-BioXX, matrix, x2lite, x2pro, and camealeon either out or just about out, why is the matrix the best? included programmer?

I mean, the most reliable and upgradable, with no hassles.

not trying to start a war or anything, but you really didn't back up your statements. here are my thoughts

reliable - i have not heard of any problems with the other current modchips. the matrix is based on a sst49lf040 last i checked, so it should be just as reliable as the other cheapmods. in fact, it should be (in theory) less reliable based on the connection method and the increased number of parts in the design.

upgradable - the matrix is a sst49lf020 based solution. therefore, any cheapmod or other solution can be upgraded via in xbox programming or via a lpc programmer. the fact that the matrix comes with a programmer is nice, but a programmer from just about anywhere can be used. yes, the fact that the matrix comes with a programmer is nice, and you know that the one is meant to work with the other. however, the matrix is only 256k. other solutions (not the cheapmod) are 1mb, which provides much more space for future upgrades if needed. the matrix requires an add on, essentially a complete other modchip, to obtain this functionality.
