Hi folks,

I began to think that since the P4 cards are kind of flakey, and that the Series2 DTiVo's are sent out in a P4-only mode, DirectTV might have the ability to enable units having trouble with P4, to use HU.

Is this the case?

Either the information or an image of the HDVR2 that is already fixed for Hu access for us noobs that cant get the hints and know what to do with them.

I appreciate and respect what everyone here has accompolished, Just hope that they are willing to provide easy methods for the less fortunate :D

Well, the challenge is in piecing the bits together.
Even the basic Series1 hacks are challenging but once you've done them, you are on your way to mastering your TiVo.

Solutions aren't typically 'given' away, at least not for quite a while! :)

Keep reading the postings. Even read the ones that don't seem on point for your question. If you want a fast solution, you need to purchase a series1 unit off of eBay.

Good luck,

Not really a fast solution but I want to insure myself that I didnt make a mistake by buying an S2 when I could have gotten an S1 for 1/2 the money

At the present time, a Series 1 unit will cost more than a Series 2. If you paid more than $299 for the HDVR2, you paid too much!

Most series1 units are going for in excess of $300.

I got it for $280 on ebay but I had the chance to get a DSR6000 for $200 recently from a guy at work

if we could all get working DSR6000s for $200, im sure many would choose those instead

In hindsight I am starting to think I should have gotten that one, I was thinking "Newer model for only $100 more, there should be little difference as far as hackability but tons more features"
