View Full Version : TivoApp and Myworld
What types of files are they?
How can I look at the contents/edit them?
Whats the worst effect of screwing either one up?

Just repeating what I've read about tivoapp...I don't KNOW first-hand, but here ya go:
Written in Linux Elf?
You'd have to and maybe break some encryption?
Worst effect of screwing them up would probably be having to rebuild you HD(s).
Like I said, my knowledge is limited...hopefully someone who knows more will fill you in on the details. Lots of nice stuff in there (especially in 3.1) that could use some improving...

myworld is tivoapp. The tivoapp binary is located in /tvbin.
Myworld is Tivoapp? How so?
Is one pulled form the other?
Also no one made any mention of an editor?
Thanks for the replies so far!
cali
Edit: I found a binary/viewer editor.
Have more questions now:
What code lang is this in? I am wanting to disassemble if possible.

Myworld is nothing but a link to tivoapp. Given that the tivo is running on a PPC, it of course would be PPC assembly.
Is there any freeware out there for disassembling PPC?
I found IDA pro, but the eval version doesnt support PPC, and its wayyyyy too much mula to spend on it.

I tried disassembling TivoApp using IDA Pro 4.17 with processor set to PowerPC and selected the ELF file format but I get errors about compatibility and IDA won't disassemble.
Any ideas Alpha? You had any experience with this?

You should post it for the other talented folks to help. I know *I* can't help worth a damn with it, but there are others who may be able to work with you to a positive end.
Good work.

Yeah, I want to post it but I need to see if it is okay first...i.e. ask some "senior members" what they think.
