i was just curious if both of these upgrades are basically the same and if so could we have some folks maybe give their opinions as far as installation i.e. is one easier to install than the other or vice versa, basically any helpful opinions for those of us still deciding if they want to take the plunge or not.

Most of my dtivos are still at v2.5.2 and I'm not planning to upgrade to v3.1.0 until I have to. I don't like the DVR tier requirement. And there is a bug in v3.1.0 that makes running TCL scripts over time difficult http://dealdatabase.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&postid=84316#post84316

me thinks ill get my hands on a new hard drive just to play around that way i dont have to worry about losing what works.
