I have 3 hours of .m2v which I would like to fit on one DVD.

1. How do I do this?

2. What freeware/demoware do I use (I'll gladly pay for anything that "works")?

3. Where can I download that software?

How big is it?

It'll fit on 1 DVD with DVD Workshop or DVD Movie Factory
once it's been muxed with TyTool6. Check out the appropriate
thread.

Hey jaja

Use SpruceUp or DVDMaestro (you'll also need DVDPatcher to patch the first Header).

These programs are by the same company and are easy to use. Also, with either of these programs you won't need to mux or re-encode or anything like that.

Search for the links to the above mentioned programs right inside this forum - they're here and you will find them if you look.

Also, as a side note - you may want to look for the Turbonet Driver Update that is available from silicone dust - this update may help to further increase your extraction speeds.

Hobby--I can't get Spruce up to work with files from Tytools 6. I've tried both the muxed file and demuxing the file. I get GOP errors and it crashes. I tried patching the header.

Is there something I'm missing?
The only thing I've been able to get to work is demux, use besweet to fix the audio, ifoedit then burn.
I'd like to try Spruce up.

1) Open DVDPatcher
2) Import the .m2v file you want to work on
3) Patch first header only to 720 @ a BitRate of 15.0 MBit (DVB)
4) DO NOT close DVDPatcher, Open SpruceUp and Import the same .m2v file
5) After SpruceUp is finished importing (it may crash - don't worry) close SpruceUp
6) Patch first header back to 480 (DO NOT change Bitrate - leave at 15.0)
7) Open SpruceUp again, import the same .m2v file again and author as you wish
8) Burn with Nero

As a note - extract from TiVo using Tytool and vsplit using Tytool - don't mess with converting to mpg under Tytool yet - the mpg files converted this way only have limited use right now and are difficult to deal with (THEY WILL NOT WORK IN SPRUCEUP OR DVDMAESTRO).

Hobby---Thanks for the response. I'm using Gopeditor and tytools to multiplex (easy way to cut) Can't get those files to work with Spruce UP--wasn't sure if I was missing anything. BTW Spruce UP chokes even when I demux the mpg file.

I guess I'll stay with what works for me.

You're exactly right - it will choke unless you use the RAW .m2v files directly after vsplit

You won't be able to cut commercials this way - but if you're not worried about disk space (ie the m2v & m2a files add up to LESS than 4.7 gig) - then you can set chapter points to skip the commercials. When you watch the DVD you won't even know they are there (The DVD will skip right over the commercials) It will be seamless.

This is great stuff. I'm leaving work early today just to try it. I always wondered what the heck you guys meant when you said "patch it". Now, it looks like I'll be able to find out myself.

Also, I'm not real concerned with editing out commercials. Setting chapter points is a perfect solution and the commercials can be ammusingly cool time capsules years down the road.

Actually you have to count the overhead. So it has to be less
than 4.3 Gigs

So I created a DVD with Maestro, and it playes perfectly on my computer, but as soon as I put in in my home player, it thinks it's a MP3 disc.

I downloaded the file in VSplit mode with tytool
dvdpateched to 720*480
loaded file in maestro
repatched back to 480*480
converted audio to ac3 with besweet
loaded all into maestro
Set begining, ends, and chapters
compiled
burnt with roxio

Never Mind, it seems to be working okay with Nero

Boy, I don't know what it is whith some of these programs that you guys are all using but SpruceUp works about as weel as Ulead's Movie Factory.

I installed SpruceUp. Ran it in trial mode (they no longer sell it). I selected Import (like you said) and then I clicked on a 280 MB .m2v file extracted from my TiVo using TyTool6.

Just in case SpruceUp has a habit of "freezing" just like Ulead MF, I waited about 10 minutes stareing at a progress meter reading 0%. Then SpruceUp aborted with an "invalid parameter file error".

I'll reboot and try again. Jeez.

After carefully reading the dialogue between Newbie and Hobby, I finally figured out that they are talking to each other.

Can we get back on topic?

How can I put 3 hours of tytool6 already muxed .m2v files on one DVD?

Well not to razz on you man but your question has been answered time and time again. For some reason, none of these
programs work for you. Maybe you should try and see if there
isn't something on your end. Like what OS, Service Packs, Patches
how much ram, etc...

Spruce has been known to be very finicky with the type of mpeg
you can import. It doesn't like the muxed output from Tytool.
That's a fact. It's been tried, doesn't work, we moved on.

If you demux to elementary streams, it MIGHT work if there is
no Temporal GOP Reference errors. Good luck.

The 2 PROVEN methods of doing what you want to do are posted
all over this board. I don't understand how you keep starting
thread after thread and never getting anywhere with all the
help that has been provided to you. I find it had to believe that
both don't work for you.

So i will list them here for you. 1 of these HAS to work for you
or you are just the unluckiest man alive.

Method 1, IFOEdit v0.96beta : DVD that plays the first show
automatically. More shows can be added.

1. Take the muxed output from Tytool rename the .m2v to .mpg
and SIMPLE DEMUX in TMPGenc v2.5xx.xx.xx

2. You will get a .m2v and .m2a files.

3. Use these files in IFOEdit as is.

4. Create your VIDEO_TS folder

5. Burn with Nero 5.5.10.7b in UDF/ISO mode

Method 2, DVD Workshop : Professional DVD with great looking
menus.

1. Take the muxed output from Tytool rename the .m2v to .mpg
and delete the .m2a file.

2. Use DVD Patcher v1.05B and patch the First Header
of each .mpg file to 352x480.

3. Add these in DVD Workshop. It takes a long time on my
P3 933 1 Gig of RAM (2 minutes per 1.5gig file i would say)

4. Follow my flash tutorial on how to make nice looking menus.

5. Export to a VIDEO_TS folder.

6. Test it by loading it up in PowerDVD XP v4.0

7. Burn with Nero 5.5.10.7b in UDF/ISO mode and force Xbox
compatibility.

Now one of these MUST work for you. If it doesn't then i don't
know what to tell you other than drop the files on a DVD and
Fedex it to me and i'll author the DVD for you and will record
every keystroke in a flash movie so you can see that it ain't
rocket science.

-Pr.

P.S. This message is truly sincere. I hate seeing people get
stumped on something that is a piece of cake for me. I like
to help.

TAKE A DEEP BREATH AND FOLLOW HOBBY'S DIRECTIONS TO ME EXACTLY. He and I specifically said the muxed (m2v) file will choke Spruce up, yet that's exactly what you used.

Please don't take this the wrong way you need to read more and post less:) Print the post (Pr Sinister is also good) and follow it.
