My DSR6K has been running for a couple of days with no problems. Last night it started to reset every 30 minutes. It is still doing it. The only thing that I did to it was attempt to restore the guide data for the local channels.
Now it resets every 30 minutes! ARGH!
I'm also having another problem, that whenever I go into the DirecTV menu, the system will reset after a random amount of time. Sometimes it's immediate, sometimes it takes a couple of seconds.
I'm running 2.5.2-01-1-001 Extreme
Ideas?

Activate the heat monitor and see if the Tivo is overheating, I'm having the same problem, only less frequent, and I think it's the overheating issue.

What is your systems internal temperature, can you get to the system information screen long enough to check it? Is your fan running properly and are there any obstructions from cables blocking the air intakes? Do you have another drive with an older version of xtreme or the original Tivo software version you could back in and check it?

I'm currently running with the case open. Still haven't mounted the ethernet cable yet. tivoweb reports 40C as the temp. That's recording 2 shows, and playing back a third.
It was happening a little to regular for it to be tempurature related. IMHO anyway.
I did a #61 then rebooted the box. It's been up now for an hour and 5 minutes so far. I thought it had something to do with mvchannels. My locals are still there, and we'll find out in a couple of days if the guide info stays with them.
Now I just need to figure out why every time I go into the DirecTV menu my system decides that it needs to reset.

Well, it happend again last night. I was watching a recorded show, then it just started to reset.
Now it seems to reset on a smaller time interval.
More like a 5-10 minute interval.
This is driving me crazy!

I have two DSR6000 receivers that I have owned approx. 16 months. The one upstairs rebooted and got stuck on the powering up screen about 3 months ago. I opened it up and reseated the flat ribbon cable and it has been working fine ever since. The one downstairs had just started rebooting 3 to 4 times a day about 3 days ago. Last night I got home and the receiver was stuck on the "cannot acquire sattelite information" screen. This morning I opened this receiver up and reseated the flat ribbon (between the power supply and motherboard) cable and it is also working fine now. I would hazard a guess this is your problem and would try this first as it is simple and quite easy. A small pair of right angle needle nose pliers makes this a 1 minute job. Hope that helps.
That little ribbon cable is miserable! Cheap tinned contacts. Should be gold plated. One of my Hughes was shutting down once a day, had to open it, reseat the cable, and it would start up. This annoyed me, so I tried a long shot, and it now works perfectly. I had a free sample of a product called R5 Power Booster made by CAIG Laboratories, it's made to prevent/fix oxidation on battery terminals in flashlights , portable electronics, etc. I wet the ribbon cable ends with this stuff, inserted it and all my problems went away! I know it sounds rediculous, but it worked. I thought it was snake oil, but I was proven wrong.
No, I don't work for the company! I got a free sample a year ago from MCM and threw it in a drawer.

What's strange is that I put my old drives back in and it worked perfectly for a couple of hours. So I just said screw it, and redid my drive. Lost some shows, but oh well, I've got my sanity back.
Started with 2.5.0 Extreme, then installed Kraven's Update, then installed SuperZap's 2.5.2 on the DTivo itself. This was about 3AM when I finally finished.
Setup my Season Passes at 7:30AM and had to head to work. We'll see if it decided to stay up.
If that doesn't work, I'll try the 2.5.2 iso that I've got lying around here someplace, and might venture into 3.1 maybe.

I too am getting the Welcome Powering Up. It seems to happen randomly, 1-3 times per week. Doesn't seem to be temp related,. It just clicks & clicks. I pull the power & it boots right back up. I will try to re-seat the ribbon cable.
FYI:
Running a DSR6000 (6months old)
Maxtor 80gb HD
25xtreme
Kravens update
& xplusz
Have not changed anything in 3 months!

If it is happening that regularly, I would suspect that cron is calling a routine that is executing improperly and crashing the box. Do a ps aux and see if cron is running (probably /bin/cron). If it is, look in your crontab file (probably /etc/crontab) and see what's set to run every x minutes. If you find something running at the same interval that your machine is resetting, that's probably your culprit...
