i've read both versions over and over, but they don't referance a .mfs for restore, only a .bak file. are these files the same with the extension change? thanks for all your help.

The file extension can be whatever someone decided to call it.

The files are the same. With linux, file extentions do not mean anything like they do with windoze.

thank you, i'm learning. so to restore a tivo.mfs on c: just use the msfrestore -s 127 -xzpi /mnt/c/tivo.bak /dev/hdc command?
