I need a CD Rom Drive for a Xbox.

Does anyone know where I can get a CD Rom Drive for a Xbox.
It just won't read CD's any more and cleaning the lens does not help.

have you tried ebay?......I know there won't be much luck there....go here http://www.xbox-scene.com and go to their forums.......there is a buy,trade,sell section there with people selling xbox parts and links to other sites where people sell xbox parts.

well, i too am looking for a dvd drive for the xbox. prefferably a samsung one. pm me if you can help out

. . . over at http://www.compgeeks.com right now. they've got several different Samsung 6xx models ranging from $19 for an SD-604 5x drive to $36 for a SD-616 16x drive. might be an inexpensive option, at least with the cheapo $19 edition.

well, i got a 616T from superpcmart and got it all modded up.

flashed the drive with the xbox samsung bios using mktwinflash or whatever its called
desoldered the tray motor, roted 180 deg, and reinstalled
soldered wires to the 4 points as needed
hooked up a power connector and the 4 wires to the yellow cable socket from the dead thompson that the drive was replacing
modified the tray by cutting the tabs a bit to accept the xbox drive facsia
cut the xbox drive caddy and the case to let the drive sit in the unit properly

powered up and was in like flynn

try a search on ggole. i was tooling around and found a site that had the laser for $90. kind of a high price, but i'm sure they are cheaper elsewhere.

if i remembered the exact site i would link you, but its been a while since i've been there.
