I have a Hughes GXCEBOT DTivo that is currently working with a 25xtremed 40 gig Quantum Fireball HD. I Xtremed the IBM and installed it in the DTivo. When I apply power The TV screen flashes "Powering Up" then collapses then repeats the scenario. The DTivos Power light goes out when the TV Screen collapses then comes back on while the "Powering Up" is showing on the PC. If I put the original Quantum dive or my spare Sony T-60 drive in the DTivo unit all runs ok. I sort of suspect that the Power supply in the Dtivo is cutting out since it is a 7200 RPM drive and the power supply might be a little marginal. Any one have any comments?:)

IBM drives are problematic in tivos. Best to get a Maxtor or Samsung drive.
Or search the forum for
runideturbo=false

Superzap,
I xtremed the drive with The Surgeon 1.00 Phillips DSR6000 image. From what I've read this automatically sets runideturbo=false.
Also this image does not ask you if your drive is a Quantum.

And btw, 25Xtreme automatically sets runideturbo=false in the boot parameters...-Surgeon- )
My IBM drive is the DTLA-307075 not the IBM 75GXP that the Forums refer to as poo poo. Anything else you can think of? :)

If you ran DTiVomad as part of the v25xtreme install you were asked a question about having 2 drives. You should have answered no to that question. Did you?
Try different settings of the drive jumpers.

Surgeon,
Answered "No" to the question about having 2 drives.
Tried all 5 drive strappings; Master, Cable Select, Slave, Force Dev1 Present. I even used the IBM utilities to change it from ATA 100 to ATA 66, turned off the S.M.A.R.T utility, turned write ahead and write cache off.
If I suspected a problem with the DSR6000 image and I have an image for my Sony T-60 that I have used successfully, could I:
1) Load the Sony image on the IBM drive and see if it would works in the Hughes unit? If it does that would prove I have a problem my Phillips/Hughes image.
Would I have to flash the EEPROM again in order to put the original Hughes quantum drive back in? Thanks for all the help.

You could try the T60 image, it should work, the only real difference is the remote codes and splash screens.
Don't worry about the prom flash, once it's flashed never has to be done again.

Ok I give! Nothing has worked including the Sony image so I guess I'll chalk this one up to "live and learn". I'll stick with maxtor drives from now on. I'll put this IMB into a PC and use it there. Thanks for all the help Superzap! :D

I had the same exact problem with the same exact drive. It simply will not work in a tivo. After a few hours of atempting to figure out how to make it work I came accross a post on this board about the drive not working in a tivo:

Ya, I saw that post too but since I didn't have a IBM 75GXP but rather the DTLA-307075 I thought I would give it a go. It was a good experience but a failure.
There's only one more thing I'm going to try and that is to make a backup of my working Drive using MFS tools and transfer it to this IBM and see it it works. This takes the EEPROM flashing step out of the picture which is where the failure occurs.
