What should my software version read with 2.5.2 on it with the xplusz mods..

i have upgraded it using one iso, which im not sure has the mods on it, maybe just 2.5.2 and one i just downloaded i know has them on here...

right now it says version 2.5-01-1-001..

what should it say for 2.5 and 2.5.2?

do i need to install 2.5 than go to 2.5.2 to reinstall from the other ISO or can i just try re-installing 2.5.2 on top of itself?

You have to install the v252 xupgrade. Not sure if that's what you tried. Check the sticky thread at the top of the forum.

Or check this file:
/var/hack/upgrd252.log
for errors.

ok i ended up putting this image on

"SuperZap Xtreme 2.52 Philips-Hughes"

Which I found somewhere..

are the xplusz tools definately on this iso becuase its 2.52 or do i need to install them now.

ive been trying to use the codes and nothing is happening..

how do i setup the tivo with the nophone mod..

is there an order to doing so..

how do i configure that iso from 2.52 to update it to lifetime and to use the no-phone..

what happens after you ended the #21,1 code in?

nothing seems to change or appear...

If it's the v2.5.2 xtreme image you installed, named d6k252x1.mfs, then you need to add xPlusz.
Get it here http://dealdatabase.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=18394
Make sure you get version v3.10. The install will ask you if you want to activate NOPHONE. Reply y. After the install, all the call waiting prefix codes should work if you need.

how will I know once I boot if the xplusy tools are loaded correctly?

im going to install that file now...

i hope it works through a floppy..

I'm no linux expert but what are you booting? Is it the v25xtreme CD? And did you login as root?

brothenberg

I was loading from a 2.5.2 upgrade cd..

i have plenty of boot cd's does that make a difference..

I simply pressed enter two times one to boot and one to login..

thats all...

you dont know why its doing that?
should i look for a different floppy?

I need to keep booting to xp and making a new disk each time i reboot to linux.. so im waiting for a response before i go trying thigs cuz it'll take a while..

I really just want to be able to set the lifetime tivo and no call options up for now, is there an easy way to that?

If you want xPlusz and all the hacks that come with it try logiging in as "root".

If you can't get xPlusz installed try this:
Mount the drive:
mkdir /mnt/td
mount /dev/hdX4 /mnt/td (X= "b" if Primary Slave, "c" if Secondary Master, "d" if Secondary Slave)

Then enter:
touch /mnt/td/etc/SubTest
(note: there is no confirmation message after touch command)

If that works you're done, put HD back in TiVo and make a Daily Call, then check account status in system info and you should see 5: Lifetime.

how can i manually add the no phone fix too?

brothenberg

1. does it just extract the files? Can i run the extraction manually?
2. in the readme the dir is listed as /df and you are saying use /td, does that have a difference?

Did you try logging in as "root"?

The SubTest method is equivalent to the NOPHONE option of xPlusz. Just follow my instructions above if that's all you want.

brothenberg

1. is it mandatory that SubTest be in capitols? I ran it without, and im not sure if its working?

2. Well I'd eventually like to get the whole thing over, but I guess ill talk to some linux guys I know Or wait till I can do it through the cable...

so for lifetime you use those touch commands, which are already on the drive? and than you put the drive back and make a test call?

does it need your initial account number? is this considered a hack, the subtest thing?

subtest does no phone AND lifetime subscription?

superzap

Yes, SubTest has to be just like that, observing the upper and lower case.

Ok I re-ran it and its currently loading data...

the instructions from the other files aid dont run it with a phone line, but that did nothing for me?

Any clues on how to get the xplusz files over yet?

or will it definately work through bash?

so if i can get the lifetime going to get all the nag screens off than there should be no problem..

brothenberg

for some reason it's not working..

should i try the
"chattr +i /etc/SubTest"

?

My cable should be here by mid next week, I guess I might have to continue my setting up than since I can't do it through the hard drive - pc setup

I'm getting a hardware problem found on the now playing screen when using this image, does that sound correct?

superzap

chattr is not necessary. With that image you need to do a Clear and Delete Everything to get past the error #51 (hardware error). Read this thread http://dealdatabase.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=19223

brothenberg
04-18-2003, 09:14 PM
is that why I'm having problems becuase I didnt do clear and delete when I did all that?

is that just for the error or would that effect everything else?

ok so once this problem is fixed...

should i try redoing the xplusz install or was that a system problem?

the errors I posted, were they drive problems or were they compression problems with the floppy?

im going to try and clear and delete and that retry the touch subtest commands after it, would that make a difference?

brothenberg

Ok so its 7pm pacific time, and I went ahead and did a clear and delete, and now there is no more error..

i took the hard drive out again and ran the touch on the subtest, i also checked out the floppy again floppy wont work, looks like i cant use a floppy to install xplusz, will have to wait for cable.

i ran the touch and i have a question
when i boot it up and force a call, should the phone line be plugged in at all?

I'm still a little unsure how to get the lifetime working by use of the tivo gui.. things havent been happening as it says they should.
