Issues with 3.1 as opposed to 2.5.2

I would like to know what I need to know before I upgrade. I see there are some stability benefits to upgrading. Before I do I would like to beg the question... What do I need to be aware of?

I have a Sony T60 DirecTivo with an HU card.

FixDemo does not work in 3.1.

There are stability improvements from 2.5.01 to 2.5.2, but I don't think 3.x buys you anything in that regard. From all the posts around here with 3.x upgrade problems, I'd be inclined to say stay where you are.
