I have a sony t-60 with 2.5.2 software. i have tried multiple times to get locals using xplusz, modifying the channels.dat file, etc. all to no avail. does anyone have any ideas if it is still possible to get multiple locals with a dtivo? if so, how? also, how can i set up my channel.dat file to get multiple cities? each time i change it, i get an error message. i'm trying to get detroit, cleveland, cincinnati, columbus, indianapolis, and nashville. any help will be greatly appreciated.

there are many detailed, last resort documents on things to do in the bash prompt, if you search try "last resort locals" to see the document I came accross.

i've searched for last resorts, with no luck. what is currently working for getting locals at this point? i'm ready to start from scratch, loading 25xtreme and whatever else is necessary.

Sorry, but I'm still new at this too, I dont even have my cable yet...

I ordered a GXCEBOT from some guy off ebay and he never shipped and that was over a month ago, so I had to order a new one, I just got mine 4-5 days ago, I'm 99% up and running, I need another satellite cable ran and I need the ppv hack :-)

I have read this forum, well extensivly the past month or so, to prepare me for doing everything the way I want it and how things work.

I'm not a linux person(want to be), and I'm still new.

I'd really recommend searching the how-to's all the way through and trying all the locals fix.

I set up my locals on the card, and I think it took a day or two but they just appeared after a while... or I just noticed them..

Which version of 2.5.2 do you have? There are several versions available for a DTivo. There's the straight 2.5.2 (i.e. non-xtreme with no hacks) that came from DTV/Tivo via your phone line. There's a standalone 2.5.2Xtreme version, and there's also Superzap's 2.5.2 upgrade to 2.5Xtreme. Since you say you've been trying to activate locals with xPlusz I am assuming that you are using Superzap's version.

If you upgraded to 2.5.2 from 2.5Xtreme then you will have to do a Clear Program Data & To Do List in the System Reset menu accessed from the Messages & Setup screen. Make sure your zip code is set up correctly in guided setup. Activate ADDLOCS via xPlusz (#20,1) and then specify which market you want to add as your locals (#60,?N? where ?N? is the market ID for your locals). I haven't tried adding any locals other than the ones I can get legitimately (you need a hacked Hu card to get anything outside your local area) but I'm assuming that you simply repeat the #60 command for each market ID to be added. You can actually add multiple markets by stringing the commands together (i.e. #60,?N1?,?N2?,?N3?, etc.).

You'll probably have to reboot the DTivo to get the locals to come in. If they still don't show up, do a #61 to reset mvchannels. You may also want to upload midupdate.tcl to your DTivo, do a "chmod +x midupdate.tcl" from the bash prompt, and then execute midupdate.tcl from the directory you loaded it in (./midupdate.tcl). Sometime shortly thereafter, the Tivo will switch over to a screen that indicates it has to reacquire data from the satellites. Your locals should appear in the guide when it's finished.
