hack directory missing and no ftp

This weekend my Tivo downloaded some updates and rebooted now I have no hack directory and ftp as well as Tivoweb isn't working.

I am running Xtreme 2.5

Also from the looks of it noscramble isnt working.

It seems like I need to reimage by drive but I dont want to lose my recordings.

Anyone out there with suggestions?

Sometimes the Tivo will wipe out the /var/hack directory if the log files get too full. You can restore the contents of the /var/hack directory by creating a new /var/hack directory on the DTivo and uploading the contents of the hack.zip file that can be found in the How Tos Only sticky thread on page 3. When you've uploaded all of the files to the DTivo, do a "chattr +i *" inside the directory. You will also need to install logsnull (also in the How Tos sticky) to keep the logs from building up and wiping out the directory again. If you install either of Superzap's upgrades then logsnull is automatically installed.

Would it prevent this in the future if I made a dir somewhere else instead?

You can install the files from the hack directory just about anywhere you want as long as the directory you install them in is called out in the PATH statement in rc.sysinit. If you've installed Kraven's upgrade to 2.5Xtreme then the /var/hack directory really isn't needed anymore. Most, if not all, of the files are relocated to different directories as a result of the upgrade. If you install logsnull or go with one of Superzap's upgrades, you shouldn't have to worry about losing the hack directory again. I would imagine Kraven's Tivolator 3.1 does this also.

Thanks for your help, I moved everything from the hack dir and hopefully I wont have any more problems.
