I have a Sony SA Tivo, TurboNet, TivoWeb but can't see TivoWeb over the internet, outside my network.
I have a Linksys Router and I've enabled port forwarding (port 80) to the Tivo network address. I have a strong password/username set on the Tivo for security.
When I try to connect to my WAN address with the port 80 specified (i.e. http//66.66.66.66:80) I can't get connected to the Tivo?
Any suggestions? I know this can be done and I've been trying for a while.
Thanks,
Supra

Have you tried setting the DMZ address in the router to the IP address of the TiVo?? That might work.

You cannot forward port 80 to your tivo. Try having tivoweb start its server on a non standard port and have the router foraward to it. The routers usually reserve port 80 for its private webserver.

I think you can forward port 80 on the LinkSys. I just did it myself to check it out. It allowed me to do it. It would forward all WAN 80 requests to my IP.
Is the "Block WAN Request" option disabled?

Thanks for the help! I was able to get it working by:
- Ensuring that WAN blocking was DISabled (reverse logic here) on the Linksys
- Have TivoWeb to use Port 81 instead of 80

I don't have a Linksys router, but are you sure you didn't just open up your entire network to the outside world??

A clip from a LinkSys page:
By enabling the Block WAN Request feature, you can prevent your network from being "pinged," or detected by other Internet users. It also adds another layer of security to your network by hiding your network ports. Both functions of the Block WAN Request feature make it more difficult for outside users to work their way into your network.
Do a search in Google for "block wan request (http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&q=%22block+wan+request%22)". You'll find more info on this subject.
