View Full Version : Boot loops and frosted partitions = breakfast of champions

My DTivo is in a reboot loop.
I can't mount the Tivo drive on my PC.
And old ladies laugh at me as they pass by.

If anyone can help me with the first two, the laughter and ridicule of the senior citizens will probably stop.

I was adding the autoscramble hack when I realized my Dtivo was recording two shows. I stopped the hack install after adding the noscramble_mbm.o in /lib/modules and autoscramble.tcl to /var/hack. I DIDN'T insert the module or run autoscramble.

After the shows recorded, I powered off the DTivo to mess with the TurboNet card. I forgot about the autoscramble files.

I rebooted several times as I worked with the TurboNet card (which was working fine). When I was ready to get back to the autoscramble, my DTivo wouldn't come out of a boot loop; "Powering up Tivo" went to "Almost there, just a few more seconds", then a reboot.

I imagine the incomplete module is the culprit. Or perhaps it's The Dark Side (tm).

I took the A drive out of the Tivo and into my PC. I can boot to the MFS tools boot disk, but when I try to mount the drive:

mkdir /mnt4
mount /dev/hdc4 /mnt4

I get:

/dev/hdc4: Success
mount: you must specify the filesystem type.

The PC laughs at me.

Aside from the argyle socks, what am I doing wrong?

I'm not running Xtreme anything, just a plain old DirecTivo with 3.1 software. I added a second drive a year ago and a TurboNet card a few weeks ago. Everything was going fine until I went "A Hack Too Far". Nothing I do seems to help. Not even when I use The Force (tm).

Maybe your active partition is 7, try hdc7 and see if it mounts.

Thanks, unfortunately that doesn't work either. Same message.

Now the PC is throwing things at me.

Joy and happiness. Much love from the Tivo:
