I have been so grateful for all the features in the 2.5.2 upgrade, I just had to use any and all of the xplusz features possible. But realising these are hacks and need to be run as processes I was just wondering if you can enable TOO many hacks? will it degrade the lifecycle of my hard drive at all? should I just been running minimum hacks?
Thanks to all that reply

I've never heard of any hacks causing the premature demise of a DTivo. I wouldn't worry about having too many hacks set up. The best rule of thumb is to only set up the hacks you need. Having too many processes running on the DTivo can affect it's performance since they would require processing time from the CPU.
Well;
I've got a few running(had actually) I installed xplusZ and ran alot of the hacks. However I noticed that my Tytool server had a tendency to stop working as a result of the EventSwitcher malfunctioning or stopping. I do believe it is a known issue, having many .tcl scripts running. So I now kill -15 psid each and every hack I don't want running. Then start tserver; hasn't died on me yet!
I had TyStudio's server, mfs_ftp, xplusZ, TiVoWeb, tivo_ftp, telnet, and a few others... now I just run TiVoweb, ftp, telnet and manually start those I need and only when I need them.Tivo is MUCH more friendly to me now.
