OK, I'm not a newbie (had my tivo for 3 years), but I have a newbie-like question. When I first created a backup of my drive, all those many moons ago, I did so after I messed up my binaries directory. I lost several of the files. I have since regained functions like 'ls' (echo * is not fun!).
I am considering reformatting my machine, maybe replacing with some larger drives. I'd like to use an original image. I still have my original backup, but like I said, I'd like to get back to an actual 'virgin' image. I beleive the serial number of each individual tivo is encoded in the hardware, and reset on the HD each time the machine is booted. So, I would think any image (not just mine) will work. Of course I will need an image from the same type of machine.
So, does anyone know where I can find an ISO image for a series 1 Phillips machine? If the MFS area has been wiped, it should be fairly small. Is there somewhere (or someone) I can get this? Does anyone know if using someone elses image will NOT work?
Thanks.....
