View Full Version : Locals and 2.5.2
OK, long story short. I was running 2.5 Xtreme with a touched Tivo, and a valid sub'ed P4. Everything was fine until Tuesday night. Lost my locals. Called DTV - they send me a new P4, replaced the card, still not working. I get all my other programming, CNN/HBO etc. just no Atlanta locals.
After doing some reading here, I decided to upgrade to 2.5.2. That's done and working, but still no locals.
Sometimes, I get my local channel banners (tells me what is on and info about the show) but other times I don't.
What can I do to resolve this? DTV told me I needed a new receiver, which I know is a bunch of BS.
Any help, please ???
Thanks
AJB

I'm having the same problem, the new card is coming today along with the $20 bill. Were you ever able to get the local channels?

Did you do a Clear Program Data & To Do List after installing the 2.5.2 upgrade? You need to do this at the very least. I've heard some say that only a Clear and Delete Everything will work for them but it will wipe out everything on your Tivo, including any recordings, and return it to "virgin" status. Locals take some time to populate the guide and may not show up right away. You can install midupdate2.tcl to expedite matters but I never have gotten it to work for me. The only surefire way I've found of getting locals with 2.5.2 was to do a fresh install of 2.5Xtreme and then perform the upgrade to 2.5.2. I leave the sat feeds disconnected until after the 2.5.2 upgrade has been installed so the DTivo only gets its first look at the guide data with 2.5.2 on the drive. I've gotten locals to come in each and every time I did it this way and they've been going strong for many, many months (probably over a year by now) and I've never lost them.

I agree with CV. I have seen this alot with peoples upgrades, and upgrading a version of 2.5 with info on it doesnt work. I havent tried clear and delete everything with no sat hookups and then go to 252, that should work. But simply upgrading 25 to 252 wont get your locals back permenantly........

i tried the process captain video talks about above. in fact i did it 3 times in the last week. each time was the same. my locals and guide came in all screwed up. then i did nothing except wait about 10 hours . then the magic happens and everything comes in.

When you install 2.5x and 2.5.2 upgrade do your locals just come in immediatly or do you have to do the clear and delete thing.
just trying to get to the bottom of locals thing.
thanks

As CV said, Don't forget to use midupdate after 2.5.2. After you use this, reboot. The locals should come in.
