rc.sysinit file gets overwritten

Hello,

I just completed an upgrade to a bigger harddrive and I'm also installing TurboNET.

Everything seemed to be going fine until I tried adding the telnet deamon to the rc.sysinit file. I added this line to the rc.sysinit file:

tnlited 23 /bin/bash -login &

When I move my harddrive back to the tivo it appears to boot twice. I see 'powering up...' and after 20-30 seconds the screen should glitch and then say 'powering up...' again. When it does come up I can ping, but not telnet to my tivo.

When I move my harddrive back to the pc it appears as if no changes were ever made to the rc.sysinit file. I've also tried creating an rc.sysinit.author file. It appears to get deleted.

Anyone have any ideas?

You need to kill the initrd. The initrd is Tivo's "file integrity" check that replaces any user modified files. Here is a great link to help you out http://www.dealdatabase.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=21082 - look at Superzap's initial reply.
