I'm on day 2 of my TiVo hacking project and feel like I haven't gotten anywhere so please help.
I have a T60 with 3.1 already installed on it.
Anyhow, I've installed the TurboNet adapter in my Tivo and I can ping it. That was step one of my adventure.
Now, I'm trying to get a working backup of my T60's 40GB Quantum drive to a IBM Deskstar 45GB. I've been using MFSTools 2.0 ISO image to get make my backup image using mfsbackup -6so /mnt/dos/tivo.bak /dev/hdc. That works without any errors. I then reboot and burn the backup image file to a CD. I then reboot again using the MFSTools 2.0 ISO this time with the harddrive I want to use as my test drive. I remove the MFSTools CD and put in my image CD and run mfsrestore -s 127 -zpi /mnt/cdrom/tivo.bak /dev/hdc. That appears to work just fine too. So I unmount everything and power down. Take the test drive to the Tivo and all I get is the "Welcome. Powering up" screen and then it starts it's reboot loop.
If I put the original Quantum drive back in it boots right up.
My first guess at what the problem might be is that the image on the PROM doesn't like this HD. Is that the case? I don't have any other spare drives laying around, so I'm hoping that's not it.
If there is something I'm missing please let me know. I've searching the forum and google for anything similar and haven't found it yet.
Thanks,
