View Full Version : For those with read only root partitions installing tystudio

There were a few of you who said that the tyserver installation script was not remounting your root partition on its own. I am still not clear as to why it is unable to do this, so I have prepared a little script that will hopefuly shed some light this issue. What it does is perform several write tests in the /etc/rc.d directory, and it will halt on the first sign of trouble. If you are one of those who were having this problem, please run the attached script and copy+paste the output here. Everybody else, please disregard this post.

To run this script, just upload it to your tivo and type "bash mounttest.tcl"

(Note to admin, please allow .sh extensions in attachments. I feel silly posting a shell script as a TCL script :D )

bash mounttest.tcl
Testing writability of "/etc/rc.d"...
touch: /etc/rc.d/mounttest: Read-only file system
Unable to write to /etc/rc.d
Root partition must be read only, attempting to remount it...
Remount successful, attempting to create blank file "/etc/rc.d/mounttest"...
File creation successful, attempting to write to the file...
All tests seem to be successful.
