Has anyone seen this...
I have a Phillips HDR114. Extra B drive added, TurboNet, TivoWeb, other usual goodies.
Have been running fine for months...something just popped up.
I cannot use the Tivo remote to change to any channel with a '6' in it, i.e. 6, 16, 26, 62, 306, etc.
I'm using the IR blaster
I've verified that:
* The behavior is there on another IR blaster
* The cablebox/cable remote works just fine
* The Tivo remote seems to be ok with the 6's...i.e you can enter a 6 channel in the guide. Also when you enter a 6 channel, the Tivo will think you've switched, and pull up the appropriate channel/guide info for the 6 channel.
However the IR blaster will not relay the 6 to the cablebox...
Anyone seen this??
thanks

I'm responding to this old thread because I saw this problem as well. You're probably using a GI box. Try a different code. There is one code where everything works except '6'. one of the higher codes works , inclding the '6' key. I found that the 'medium' speed was best as 'fast' would misfire occasionally and I would not get the recordiung.

You might also try programming the Tivo such that there is a delay between each channel number. I seem to remember that this can be done when using the IR blaster. Some cable boxes just don't respond quickly enough to the codes transmitted via the IR blaster so you need to insert a pause between each number being transmitted.

I initially solved this using a different remote code, then used the hack to enable Serial Cable control and tossed the IR blaster completely....

Serial control would be great. Unfortunately, my cable box does not seem to have a serial port. Maybe I should call the cable company and see if they got newer boxes.
I thought that serial control was only for satellite. Are there instances where you can use it to control a cable company box?

I'm having issues that the Tivo will not issue numbers that are the same in the channel #.
i.e. Channel 322 will only be changed as channel 32.
channel 227 will only be 27
The phillips DirectTV remote (receiver only - no built in tivo) - works just fine.
Any help?

Can you use the serial connection instead? I don't recall if this works with all DirecTV recievers or just certain brands. Serial is supposed to be much more reliable than IR blaster (like 99.9%).
