View Full Version : How much Hard Drive Space

Do you know how to tell how much hard drive space is available for recordings? It is supposed to be 120GB drive but I am not sure I have all of it available.

Check the System Information screen. It will tell you how much maximum total recording capacity you have. It will say something like "up to 35 hours". Note that recoding capacity on a DTivo is variable and not fixed like it is on a SA Tivo. The amount of compression used by DTV for any particular showing will dictate how much space a recording occupies on your hard drive.

As I suspected, 35 hours. How can I expand it to use the rest of the drive?

A program called tivomadd will expand the system to fill the new drive. The Hinsdale how-to has detailed instructions, google for it.
