Tivo Series 2 - Why not ?

I'm sure this question has been answered, but...

Why does the stand alone Tivo Series 2 not have dual tunners (ability to records 2 shows at once) ?

I've always wondered this. Since my DirecTivo can do it, you would think the series 2 would be able to.

its the cost of implementing 2 mpeg encoders, both in processing power and in dollars. the dtivo doesnt have mpeg encoders, since it relies on just capturing the raw mpeg data straight from the satellite.
