I have a hughes dtivo unit with the stock 40gb hd. It has 2.5.2 loaded on it. I am awaiting my turbonet card and my larger hd.
I am going to install my turbonet card first and get that working. I then want to ftp to my dtivo unit and backup all my info (season passes and recordings). I am just not sure where this is located.
After I backup all my data i will then install my new drive and restore everything back.
Can someone help me out to where this data is located.
Thanks,
Netman

I can't help you with what you're asking but there may be a few posts about this if you run a search. Normally you would use MFS Tools 2.0 to do a backup of a Tivo drive. This takes up about 135MB of space and can be burned to a CD-R for safekeeping. It should retain all of your settings but not your recordings. You can do a direct disk-to-disk copy from your old drive to your new one as long as the new drive is the same size or larger. This will retain all of your recordings but it takes quite a while to accomplish. You can find instructions for doing this in Hinsdale's How To. Check the How Tos Only sticky thread or check out the 9th Tee website in the Tivo upgrades section for links to MFS Tools 2.0 and Hinsdale's.

I have seen the mfs tools. I guess one problem would be since I am running XP Pro and all my filesystems are NTFS this could cause a problem. I was hoping to just be able to ftp the files back and forth.
I am not that concerned with the recordings as I am with my season passes.

You can extract the videos to your PC as tmf files using mfs_ftp and a Turbonet adapter. This will allow you to transfer them back to your Tivo after you've performed the upgrade. Look in the extraction forum for the mfs_ftp thread for more info. As I recall, the season pass info and preferences should remain intact when you back up your drive, as long as you restore the backup to a drive that's going back into the same Tivo. If you move the drive to a different Tivo then you'll get an error #51 and have to do a clear & delete everything which will wipe out all of your settings and recordings.
