Superzap,

Would it be possible to get the command, or a small package to EBD (kernel mod) for 2.5.2

As I mentioned in another post, I loaded your 2.5.2 upgrade with xPlusz, but deleted the xPlusz funtionality, so I could do the hacks by hand (glutton for punishment).

I did yet another unit last night, and left xPlusz in, to my delight, I found that your EBD code gives me back my backdoors enabled @ bootup, without needing to swap out the unhacked ax88796.o driver to allow for eth0.

I really NEED to have auto-correction turned off, so I won't take my own life while fast-forwarding or rewinding. B M U S 1 is VERY annoying.....

:D

Now that I know more, I'd just like to leave the net0 hack in place, but add the EBD functionality only for my 2.5.2

Can you help?

JJ Bliss

Note: This is not required if you have xPlusz installed. Use the EBD option instead.

This is a mod to tivoapp.
Get xPlusz v3.10 and extract file EBD1252sz and put in /var/hack.
chmod +x /var/hack/EBD1252sz
/tvbin/switcherstart -k ; #(then wait for prompt again)
mount -o remount,rw /
cd /tvbin
cp tivoapp tivoapp.orig
/var/hack/EBD1252sz
mount -o remount,ro /
reboot

Thanks man....

(BTW: It works fine when using xPlusz as it was originally intended, I'm just a yutz...)

Oh yeah..
one other thing....

I see that there is an EBD option for 3.1..

Whassit do ? I didn't think there were any backdoor codes for 3.1.

Will I be able to use the same commands as above (filename changed obviously), to implement EBD at bootup for my Kraven/BlissTerPopper installation as well ?

Will it get me the old Clear-Enter-Clear-1 and Clear-Enter-Clear-5 commands that I used to use to turn off autocorrection of FFWD and RWD ?

Not sure if the actual enable backdoor code is known for v3.1.0 but the tivoapp mod will accomplish the same thing at every bootup. In other words, it changes the default to enabled. The file for v3.1.0 is EBD1310sz and to reverse the mod use EBD0252sz or EBD0310sz.

Does this tivoapp mod on a 3.1 system stop responding
and give a need to reboot your directivo every couple of days ?
like xplusz does on 3.1

If you're reffering to the EventSwitcher bug in 3.1, neither this method OR xPlusz will do that. However, since xPlusz is written in TCL, it will exacerbate the bug when run often.

If you are ONLY referring to the EBD code, it doesn't matter.
