Backdoors-what are it's benefits??

I am running 2.5.2 xPluz, and was trying out some of the new features, but can't seem to find out what "enabling backdoors" actually adds to the DTivo features.

Can someone please tell me.

I wasn't sure if it had to be enabled to use the 30 second skip, which I don't like once I tried it. I'd rather have the "15 minute" skip of "go to end" skip.

What prompted the question was I was trying to turn off the 30 second skip and couldn't do it without rebooting.

If there was a way to turn off or toggle the 30 second skip please post it. I don't dislike the feature, I just like the original function better and would like to use both if it's a toggle feature.

opps, never mind, as I was playing with some of the "backdoors" features listed in the post I found S-P-S-3-0-S toggled the 30 second skip.
