Hi all,

Newbie here, as I just found this site after searching for a long for some answers to my Sony SVR-2000 and video/audio extraction.

I know you are all vets :p here, so excuse me if my question sounds newbie like and sure you have heard it 20000 times.

What are the exact step-by-step procedure needed to set up my TiVo to extract video to my computer to make DVD/SVCD/VCD?

If you could post a link or post a description how to make this happen, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks in advance.

Start by reading all of the sticky threads here and in the DirecTV Tivo hacking forums. A lot of the info is applicable to both SA Tivos and DTivos, especially when it comes to extraction.

The only two pages I needed:

http://www.stevejenkins.com/tivo/newbie.html#_Toc16501010

and then

http://tipster.stormrad.com/tivo/extraction.html

I followed the second link exactly and it worked first time for extraction.

The 2nd link provided by VideoJedi is a bit outdated and doesn't reflect jdiner's latest version of TyTool7r2. I'd refer to the sticky at the top of this forum instead of using that link. The first link to the stevejenkins site looks like a good one.

I'll have to check the advantages of using TyTool7r2 rather than the version I have been using in that link. For all types of recordings I have extracted (tivo 1.3, 2 and 3) have worked with the older version. I have a couple problem movies that won't demux using tydemux and maybe using dated Tytools is why?
