still trying to get locals. I'm getting lost trying to follow the steps given by cognac. I have the file midupdate.tcl- At the bash prompt I can't figure out how to-- place both files into /bin/ . If this file is in my c:temp folder how do I get it there?
It says place both files yet I only have one file in the midupdate zip??? Do I need to do the run id thing? Really getting lost with all the commands using bash.

If the midupdate.tcl file is still on your PC, you need to transfer it to your DTiVo. If you have a turbonet/tivonet/tivoair, then you should do the transfer via FTP. Otherwise, you will have to transfer the file through your serial cable via your terminal program. For example, if you're running teraterm, you will hit file, transfer, zmodem, and point to the file you want to transfer. Once you get the file transferred, you shouldn't have any problems with the step-by-step.

Make Sense??

Runid is just a script that will run midupdate every so often. This is only useful for people who have a problem with locals disappearing. I haven't needed it, so I don't know exactly how it works. But, I would think you could do pretty much the same thing with cron if you needed to. I'd try to use midupdate on it's own first...
