b & w video

My SA Tivo just started to show B&W video instead of color. If I move or shake the Tivo, it goes back to color. I've checked all the connections and everything seems fine. Any ideas ?

Anyone know a repair shop in Mass that could repair this unit ?

Which output connectors are you using on the Tivo? It sounds like you may have a bad connection in the chrominance output (i.e. color signal). The S-video connection has pins for both luminance (black & white) and chrominance. If the color portion is getting through you'll only get a black & white picture. If you're using the S-video connection, I'd check the connections internally for that connector. If you're using the component video (i.e. RCA connector), the luminance and chrominance signals are combined prior to the output so it could be something in the circuitry like a cold solder joint. There are a couple of places that service Tivos. Look in the DirecTV Tivo hacking forum in the How Tos Only sticky. I've referenced a couple of service centers on page 4 in one of my posts.
