I would really apreciate any help on this.
I have Hughes series 1 direct tivo and i would like to add a 2nd hard drive, but when I put the Tivo drive(Quantum lct20)
into my computer the bios wont recognize it. I have tried diferent jumper settings and even ran qunlock on it Its driving me nuts. again any help on this would be great thanks.

Let me guess... does the drive even spin up? Does the led on bottom of the drive flash 10 times repeatedly? If so, the only way around this is to plug the power connector from the tivo into the hard drive, then plug the data cable from your pc into the drive. Then power up the tivo, then power up the pc. Basically you need to use the tivo power supply to power the drive. I had the same problem a few days ago.

i just tried that option and the green led comes on when i plug the tivo in and then goes out when i turn my computer on. this is nuts there's got to be a work around.

I think i might have fried the drive, i put it back inb the tivo and it won't go past the WELCOME...POWERING UP screen. now what do I do.

Well... unless your timing was just right (or rather wrong), i doubt you fried it. I would reset the data cable on the drive and the mainboard. I would also verify the jumper is set to cs (cable select) on the drive as well. If that doesnt fix it, then i would try to put it all back together and call tivo (if your warranty sticker is still good).
