Without going into the gory details, life would be much easier if I could play mpg or vobs from edited Tystreams in Windows Media Player 9.

Is there any hope? Thanks.

On one PC mine uses the "Ligos MPEG Video Decoder" codec which I have no idea where it came from. On another it uses "InterVideo Video Decoder" which I got from installing InterVideo WinDVD.

Windows Media Player sucks. Try WinDVD or PowerDVD or something else. PowerDVD works great for me.

Yes, I know WMP9 sucks (big time with Ty files) and that for most people it's easier to use to WinDVD or PowerDVD (I use PowerDVD or ATI stuff); however, IF I could use WMP9, it would allow greater integration with "myHPTC", so I'm wondering if ANYONE has a WMP9 codec that DOES work with TyMpeg or TyDVD files.

Thanks

Mine play in Windows Media Player using the WinDVD codec. Download and install intervideo winDVD then the files should play in Windows Media Player using the Win DVD codec.

Wait... you guys are playing TY files directly? ...or converting to MPEG first? I thought that mplayer was the only video player that could play TY files directly?

Thanks, I'll look for an extra copy of WinDVD. What version WinDVD do you have?

Currently all of my TYs are D/L with mfs_ftp, with TyTool processing all the way to MPEG/VOBS. What are you successfully using with WMP9?

I use WinDVD 4 but I recently sent a video that I extracted from my Tivo to a friend and he had to download WinDVD 5 to get it to play in WMP9. I extract TY files using MFS_FTP or MFS_Stream and convert to MPG using TY Studio. You can download WinDVD from the intervideo website for free from here (http://www.intervideo.com/jsp/Product_Download.jsp?p=WinDVDPlatinum) good luck and let me know if you have any more problems.

Thanks again, that did the trick.
