Has anyone found a solution for the green bar displayed on the rhs of the screen on a UK SA Tivo yet?

I've been playing around with recording settings and after doing the all the standard research decided to settle on the 720x576 resolution. The only problem is the green bar is highly visible on recordings played on my Tivo, PC and DVD player.

I've searched the archives and a few threads mention it, but they kind of dies out without any solution. So I woundered if anyone from the UK has found one as its definitely visible on my TV.

I'm open to advise if anyone thinks they have the better setup for burning DVDs for UK tivos than the standard best setting, which does actually work. I use both TyStudio (and IFOedit) and Tytools.

I've read most of the threads on the subject, but they either seem to point to using 720x576 or to patch the header, which I don;t think I really need to do. The best advise was the one that said that they thought the Tivo people had set best up for a reason, so I'll probably go back to that, with maybe a slightly higher bit rate.

Thanks

Well, I've just started to have a play with TyTool 7r4.

I can make a DVD with this that plays in my (OK - the kids!) PS2, but if I play it in my Toshiba 210 I get the green bar 1/3 from the right with a wrap around picture - it's unwatchable.

Also with the Tosh, I have to go into the setup menu and change the audio from bitstream to PCM to get sound - a pain.

I've read previous posts about the wrap around effect with Toshibas, even with USA TiVos - are you using a Tosh by any chance? I don't know if there's any solution.

I guess the TiVo archives will have to go via the PS2

Also the fact that the Tosh doesn't seem to read DVD-RW, only DVD-R, can make for expensive coasters!

No I'm using a Denon, but I don't think its the player as it happens on my playstation too. I Just assume its the way 720x576 is recorded. I've gone back to 480x576 everything works for me at least. I've moved onto menu creation and getting my head around fitting multiple shows onto one dvd.

Just as a side note from reading past posts I gather the Tivo can only process so much information at once. So upping the bitrate doesn't always produce the best quality output. For writing to DVD does it make it any difference if I use 4.500Mbits or 7000Mbits except for size I gather DVDs normally write at 4.500Mbits so am I actually gaining anything (or even losing anything) quality wise.

My Denon doesn't like RWs either so I know what you mean. At least 4x are decent prices now. I've nearly used up the 50 spindle of 1x I bought a couple of months ago (thank god!)
