I've been using tystudio and it really rocks! My problem is that 2 out of the 3 dvd players I have don't handle the 480x480 video from my dtivo.
Can someone give me a simple step by step guide to actually making a near universally compliant dvd? I have most of the software mentioned on this forum to multiplex - I just don't know the process.
Thanks for answering a newbie question!

The problem resides in your players. Most older models won't recognize recordable DVD discs and some won't play 480X480 mpegs without blanking part of the screen. There's not a lot you can do without transcoding the entire video clip to either 720X480 or 352X480 to make it DVD-compliant. This will, however, result in diminished quality and will take many hours to process. With the falling proices of DVD players you're better off getting a current model that will play your DVDs.

I have a Pioneer DVD changer and a portable dvd player that I wont be able to replace anytime soon. I know both of my players can handle recordable dvds its just the resolution issue that I need to address. I'm OK with losing quality - I just need the steps to transcode the files so they work. Do I need tmpgenc or mpg2vcr or something else? I'm at a loss as what to do next.

One site, convert anything (pretty much) to anything else and burn to DVD, CD, whatever.
